Foonle - Race Friends to Guess the Word, Free Online

Everyone in the room gets the same hidden 5-letter word and 6 guesses to find it. After each guess, every letter turns green if it is in the right spot, yellow if it is in the word but the wrong spot, or grey if it is not in the word at all. Foonle runs this as a race: the round ends the moment everyone has either solved it or used all 6 guesses, or the clock runs out, whichever comes first.

Foonle is built for it. Start a private room, share the invite link, and everyone races the same word at the same time. You can see your opponents' guesses as redacted color grids (their colors, not their letters), so you can tell how close someone is without seeing what they typed.

A round's score rewards two things: how many guesses you used and how much time was left on the clock when you solved it. Solving on your first guess with a full clock scores the maximum 1,000 points. A slow solve on your last guess still scores something, since finishing always beats giving up, but a fast, efficient solve scores the most.

A default game of Foonle runs 10 rounds, each with a 90-second clock, and your score adds up across every round. The room host can change both numbers before starting, and there are Blitz (5 rounds, 45 seconds) and Marathon (20 rounds, 60 seconds) presets to jump straight to a different pace.

Every word you can guess with is a real 5-letter English word. The word you're trying to find is always drawn from a smaller list of common words, so the answer is always something you'd reasonably expect to see, never an obscure dictionary entry.

Foonle uses the same green/yellow/grey guessing format that word games like Wordle popularized, but it's a different game: Foonle is built around live multiplayer rounds where everyone races the same word at once, rather than one word a day played alone.

Foonle runs in the browser on desktop, tablet, or phone. There is nothing to install and no account is required to play a public room.
